About this artwork
In this new artistic stage, Venetian palaces and historic urban centers appear literally hanging by a thread, miraculously saved from degradation, in compositions that break the classical landscape tradition to lead the stylistic essence towards a completely new language. The buildings and the stories they contain seem like fragile packages to be handled with care, hidden under barcodes, emails, pause symbols of videos that scroll on cell phone screens.
« I prefer to be a good craftsman than a mediocre artist. »
Fulvio Dot is an experienced painter and draftsman based in Italy whose work has been exhibited nationally, as well as in China, France, Canada and Spain. He describes his compositions as historical places “contaminated” with contemporary symbols and content. Dot’s striking, textural and almost three-dimensional pieces are created primarily with acrylics, oils and collage on canvas.
