About this artwork
This large triptych, and as the title "Sketch of a space" suggests, draws and recomposes the space. As if it were a metallic bas-relief, rectangular shapes cut and structure it, proposing a confrontation between planes. The brushstroke is transparent and gestural but is enclosed in a geometric composition that appears to have a certain physical weight despite the lightness of the materials. "Reliefs-hiding places" emerge; some are real and some are…
illusory.
/"....order and chaos, mobility and pause, are in some respects similar to the dualism of man always in search of a balance between body and mind, between reality and aspirations, between the weight of matter and the transcendence of the spirit (or light). "/

« Creating is leaving a visible "trail" where concerns and desires converge. The painting is the frame that allows me to give it visibility. »
Established Swiss artist Gabriele Fettolini's striking artworks do not ask questions or tell stories, instead they are rhythmic and expressive representations of the balance of life. The dualism between the body and mind, reality and aspirations, the weight of matter and the transcendence of spirit.
Producing his abstract pieces in a spontaneous environment gives Gabriele the freedom to make each piece truly unique, building and eroding layers his artworks are richly textured and beautifully colored. Each canvas is full of juxtapositions, emptiness and luminosity, beauty and tragedy, ephemeral and transitory the viewer is free to make up their own mind.
Gabriele has exhibited his artwork extensively throughout Europe, his pieces are held in numerous permanent collections.
