About this artwork
As the title of the series suggests, “En Veta” (literally “hitting the vein”) invites a look beneath the apparent surface of things, exploring rather than expressing.
Very thin papers lie on the floor of the studio, wide, regular brushstrokes covering them with very liquid layers. Reacting to the humidity of the inks, the papers wrinkle, creating veins and small craters where the colour settles.
A process that reveals a random geography. A metamorphosis… that transforms these thin sheets of paper into surfaces of land and water almost resembling surfaces of stone, wood, iron or any other organic material.
It is a series of 17 pieces, painted on paper and then glued onto a canvas and stretched on a 4cm thick frame; all measure 30x24 cm.

« Creating is leaving a visible "trail" where concerns and desires converge. The painting is the frame that allows me to give it visibility. »
Established Swiss artist Gabriele Fettolini's striking artworks do not ask questions or tell stories, instead they are rhythmic and expressive representations of the balance of life. The dualism between the body and mind, reality and aspirations, the weight of matter and the transcendence of spirit.
Producing his abstract pieces in a spontaneous environment gives Gabriele the freedom to make each piece truly unique, building and eroding layers his artworks are richly textured and beautifully colored. Each canvas is full of juxtapositions, emptiness and luminosity, beauty and tragedy, ephemeral and transitory the viewer is free to make up their own mind.
Gabriele has exhibited his artwork extensively throughout Europe, his pieces are held in numerous permanent collections.
