About this artwork
African masks are always surrounded by a kind of halo of mystery and mysticism. The appearance and elements of their decor make a European person feel admiration, curiosity and, at the same time, a certain superstitious awe.I am inspired by African masks, their formal perfection, sophistication, combined with phenomenal expressive power.The masks themselves in these compositions are part of my small and favorite collection.

Born in Ukraine and graduated from the Kharkov Art Academy (Monumental Decorative Painting), Galya Didur is an award-winning artist based in Israel whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Switzerland and France. Her distintive style fuses abstraction with the figurative and is translated through still-lifes, landscapes, and figurative compositions. Didur's striking pieces are created with textured materials and varied techniques with acrylics on canvas.
