About this artwork
Are these dragons or clouds carried away by the wind beyond the distant horizon? The plot of this picture came to me on Lake Como in Italy on one of the sunny but windy days.
In this piece, I sought to capture the vibrant essence of an ephemeral moment when the sky transforms at dawn. Working with oil in an impressionistic style, I layered vigorous strokes and played with the spectrum of blues and whites to evoke a feeling of upliftment and boundless… possibility. It's a visual symphony of light and air, aiming to inspire and refresh any space it inhabits.
(There was an accident with it in 2018: during my first solo exhibition in France, a gust of wind knocked the painting down while it was on the easel, which caused a small tear in the canvas. And now, many years later, I have restored the painting and with great pleasure added a few lively brushstrokes to it, breathing new life into it.)
