About this artwork
This picture is inspired by the book "The Unworldliness of Man" by Günther Anders. It paints a picture of man as a being who comes into the world later, who discovers himself and must constantly redefine himself. The following lines came to mind:
I will
even without me
and yet I am here, as I with myself.
At a distance from the world - in the world
I see the world
as not-quite-my-world.
In the pursuit of being free
I now cut all ropes,…
all the ropes that bind me,
retreat into a world
that I imagined,
that I have built within myself,
in which thoughts blow instead of air,
shrouded in the dust of time,
which they stirred up
clouds every insight
and drives everything apart,
that was previously connected.
So the thoughts swirl
in search of meaning
restlessly through the world of illusions,
without committing to them,
without finding a footing.
I will
