About this artwork

When I was young I copied a whole calligraphy book, as I wanted to have beautiful handwriting. Put anything in front of me and a pen and I'll draw all over it, which was always a constant irritation to my mother, who's beautiful magazines etc would have my graffiti all over them. Having designed textiles for 30 odd years and really enjoy the subtle interplay of colour and the beauty that creates, as well as a feeling, this work is an expression of… all that. I also love street art and graffiti and a lot of the techniques and equipment I use in my art are very similar to those used by freestyle artists.

Canvas measurements: 102cm x 102cm

An archival canvas and paints, and has UV protected vanish, so will not fade in direct sunlight.

Signed with a certificate of authenticity.

George Hall works from his studio in Sydney, Australia but grew up between Fiji and New Zealand, so thinks of himself as a child of the Pacific. Often working with mixed media, Hall creates unique pieces that have been described as positive, calming and whimsical. Excited by movement and form, Hall masterfully uses color to create artworks that possess a sense of balance and harmony.
