About this artwork
gerlinde kosina got to know these evergreen trees better in tuscany - the olive tree is also called a real olive tree - it is hundreds of years old - can also grow to a height of 20 m and has been in use since the 4th millennium BC. Christ cultivated as a useful plant - the olive tree is a sun worshiper - and the interesting thing is that there are tons of around 1000 different varieties of olive trees. Walking under olive trees - sitting, pondering… and also painting is one of the rare, beautiful hours, because the olive tree is considered a symbol of peace (dove with olive branch)
« My pictures reflect impressions - scenes that are stored like photographs in my head, that I then try to realize in my paintings. »
Gerlinde Kosina is a committed Austrian painter whose works have featured in exhibitions and publications in Germany, Italy, Austria and the US. With oil painting as her preferred technique, she starts with chaotic stains and strokes that she then polishes with brushes, spatulas and her hands to arrive at a harmonious place. Her primary aim and theme is peace, brought to the forefront by her colours and compositions.
