About this artwork
This work expresses my anticipation of spring. The wonderful color gradients in the background contrast with the strong textures of the flowers. Contrasting and vibrant colors were deliberately chosen for this painting. It symbolizes the vibrancy of spring. This painting was created using a special technique: To create the delicate textures, salt crystals were sprinkled onto the still-wet watercolor. The salt attracts the paint and water and is removed… from the painting once it has completely dried. This leaves behind the fine textures of the salt crystals.
The leaves and stems of the flowers were painted onto the background afterwards. Especially on gray and dreary days, this picture will remind you of the lightness of spring.
Watercolor paints by Lukas / Schmicke. 100% cotton paper.
Format: 40 cm x 30.5
Gina Stöcklein is a painter, illustrator, and printmaker with a background in art education, who frequently uses watercolor, ink, acrylic, and oil. Her semi-abstract to abstract works play with colors and lines, creating both realistic references and ample room for imagination, without ever prescribing a definitive interpretation. She draws inspiration from light, nature, and emotions, and her works convey poignant sensory impressions that immediately engage the viewer and simultaneously invite contemplation and spontaneous reflection.
