About this artwork
They say every artist has a 'guilty pleasure' that eventually shows up in their work. For me, it has always been a love for colorful shoes. There is a special kind of magic in a pair of bright red heels—they are about more than just fashion; they represent a sense of power and bold confidence.
In Red Stilettos, I didn’t want to paint the shoes themselves. Instead, I wanted to capture the energy and the 'attitude' they bring into a room. I imagine… these fiery red lines as a rhythmic dance moving through the air. To make the red pop, I painted a deep, dark blue background that acts like a stage for the main performance. These bold, moving swirls are meant to feel alive, inviting you to follow their path with your eyes and feel the sense of motion.
Gina Vor (Goda Smilingyte) is a painter who learned her craft in her father’s studio, guided by hands-on mentorship and lived experience rather than formal academic training.
Her unique technique fuses the passionate, gestural energy of Abstract Expressionism with the serene discipline of Minimalism, creating works that explore both chaos and calm through bold brushwork and intentional simplicity.
Her paintings evoke profound emotion, aiming to capture the raw, unspoken beauty of fleeting moments and subconscious feelings.
