About this artwork
Nun, in ancient Egyptian mythology, was the first deity to exist at the dawn of time: a dark ocean stretching to infinity. Despite its impenetrable facade, Nun was far from empty: its chaotic, turbulent waters contained the potential to generate life.
My works depict the deity Nun in the act of creating life with her hands, like an artist.
The gestures are closely linked to the mudras, the color to the shade of blue used in ancient Egyptian art.…
The images are painted in acrylic on black polypropylene sheet.
The work is part of a series that was exhibited in 2019 at the exhibition "Nun / primordial ocean" at the salt warehouses in Cervia, Italy (setup in photo)
Giorgia Moretti is an Italian painter, illustrator, and sculptor, who graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. She employs mixed media and develops a figurative and symbolic style, intertwining real elements such as bodies and botany with inner visions and metamorphic dreams. Her works convey an intense emotion: the profound and fulfilling joy that springs from the process of creation itself, combined with the evocative allure of color and the satisfaction of every creative stroke.
