About this artwork
The Butterfly proposes a sensitive and vibrant vision of the city as a living organism, traversed by impulses, memories, and movements in constant transformation. Through a network of gestural features, superimpositions, glazes, textures, and a diversity of strokes that seem to shift, intersect, and hang in space, the work seeks to capture the playful and dreamy soul of the inhabited city.
The forms do not literally depict the city, but rather… evoke it from its inner pulse: its rhythms, its encounters, and its ever-changing energy. The signs that hover over the composition—loose lines, aerial paths, intertwined strokes—refer to that subtle and unpredictable movement that inspires its title.
Gisela Gaffoglio is a prize-winning Argentinian artist whose paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo events nationally. Color in the main influence in her bold expressionist and abstract compositions. Through her gestural painting style, Gaffoglio captures both rhythm and energy. With a diverse scope, she explores landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, and abstracts. She creates using acrylics and enamel on canvas or fabric.
