About this artwork
The “out of register” pictorial work not only deconstructs the precision and repetitiveness typical of Pop Art, but also opens a reflection on the increasing industrialization and digitalization of art. The intentional use of the register defect, which in serial production would be considered an error, becomes here a means to question whether the path of mechanical and digital reproduction is really right for art.
While industrialization and digitalization… offer access, reproducibility and democratization of art, the artist seems to suggest that there is a price to pay: the loss of the unrepeatability and physicality that characterize manual work. In this context, imperfection and error are not only a technical defect, but a statement in favor of authenticity.
« Painting is like entering a bubble where time is suspended and nothing else exists. »
Giuseppe Valia is an artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. For him, the act of creation is a portal, connecting him with the unexplored, as well as an escape. Valia's works are diverse in both theme and genre, his atmospheric urban landscapes, graffiti-inspired pieces, and portraits are most often created using oils, acrylics, and spray paint on canvas or wood.
