About this artwork
When we fall asleep, close our eyes, and the outside world becomes a distant hum, we look inward - into our memories, dreams, and worries.
In the painting, the open eye symbolises our curiosity. Hands are presented in a gesture of acceptance for what the dream brings. Moths represent our subconscious thoughts, while the lizard is a manifestation of our suppressed emotions. Everything is surrounded by organic shapes that are familiar, yet at the same… time alien.
In the dream, we turn our inner eye to the side that is always in shadows.
Gosia Karski is a painter with a master’s degree in fine arts, primarily working with acrylics, oils, and occasional watercolours. She masterfully blends surrealism with meticulous detail, transforming complex emotions into forms, objects, and landscapes on canvas. Her evocative works invite viewers to confront hidden feelings and human vulnerability, resonating with empathy and introspection.
