About this artwork
For the "Pieces" series, I first cut up pictures where I only liked parts. Over time, however, the arrangements became so large, beautiful, and popular that I now paint separate picture surfaces to later cut and arrange them. From an art-theoretical perspective, this could be seen as a concrete realism. In terms of content, the many originals point to the almost infinite variation of reality, and it's certainly a lot of fun to look at the pictures… and continually discover something new in the details or the arrangement. All of the pictures in the series, despite their similarity, form a conceptual level of unity within diversity. Thus, my personal focus on seriality and the variation of basic types is also present in this new series. The pictures offer variety and tranquility to the eye at the same time, creating opportunities for public and private conversation. The dimensions, including the mount, are 70x100cm.
Grit Peters is a renowned painter and conceptual artist whose roots lie in a family of artists. Using acrylic on tissue paper, she initially creates minimalistic line figures in her work, which are loosened up by the fluidity of the paint and the furrows it creates on the paper. The works of art, especially those from the "en famille" series, are put together in modular groups. Despite their reduced nature, they evoke deep emotions and leave room for individual interpretations and attributions.
