About this artwork
In this work, I used oil paint to capture the vibrant and emotional essence of a mystical sunset during a fishing trip. The fiery tones of the sky contrast deeply with the intense blue of the sea, evoking a feeling of passion and tranquility simultaneously. The simple yet expressive figures reflect the human connection with nature and the art of waiting. With each brushstroke, I seek to convey sensations of contemplation and serenity, inviting the… viewer to pause and resonate with the moment. This painting will fill any space with warmth and quiet reflection.
Gustavo de León, born in Montevideo on October 23, 1956, is a Uruguayan painter. I practiced different disciplines of painting and sculpture in my watercolorist mother's workshop throughout my teenage years. In 1974, she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to work in a family business. In 2002, her work in the hotel industry took her to Machu Picchu, Cusco, Peru, alternating with trips to the Amazon rainforest and Lima. She returned to Buenos Aires in 2019, where she studied Fine Arts and began a sustained production of oil paintings on canvas, exploring different styles and materials. Between 2023 and 2025, she participated in several group exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Paris, Amsterdam, and Punta del Este, Uruguay.
