About this artwork
This artwork explores the tension between light and shadow, capturing the last rays of daylight in a bluish hue. The textures, blending oil, wax, pastel, and ink, create a vibrant relief where each stroke resonates with a silent, almost pensive emotion. It invites contemplation and brings a presence that is both calm and vibrant to your home.
“Paint not the thing, but the effect it produces.” Stéphane Mallarmé
Guylène Lefort, a Montreal-based painter, primarily uses oil paint and cold wax, enriched by her background in graphic design and international experiences. Her technique involves applying, modifying, and revealing layers upon layers, exploring nature and the passage of time through matter and memory. Through her works, she conveys a profound emotion, that of the intimate dialogue between herself, nature, and temporality, offering the viewer an introspective experience.
