About this artwork
In the background, a veil of nebulous air and flickering light suggests the stillness before the galaxies explode. There is a cosmic echo in every stroke, a struggle that transcends the canvas, reaching the centrifugal rhythm of the stars. Here, Poseidon is not only the god of the seas; he is the embodiment of creative energy, of the chaos that builds and destroys to engender balance.
In this composition, the cosmos manifests as a metaphor for… our own contradictions: struggle and peace, cold and heat, matter and spirit. Everything coexists in a single breath, in an infinite dance of opposites that meet and are lost in the abyss of creation.
« To paint is to live the emotion of being part of the "secret melody" and to participate like children in the game of natural selection with the matter within our reach. »
Hélène Rooryck is a Spanish artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in the Netherlands and France. She is inspired by everything that lies behind the laws of nature, including the telluric force of textures, the dialogue of opposites, and the beauty of the incomplete and the imperfect, as reflected in Zen philosophy. Rooryck is also fascinated by the "immensity contained in the minimum" and the silence that emerges from chaos.
