About this artwork
The oil painting shows an abstract depiction of a forest in transition.
The image shows a row of tree trunks set against a light background. The trees are painted in various shades of gray and purple and appear to bend and twist. Abstract, organic-looking shapes reminiscent of plant tendrils or smoke wind around the tree trunks. In the foreground is a flower-like formation in richer shades of red.
The overall atmosphere consists of flowing movements… and forms, surreal and dynamic. It is left open whether the forest is destroyed or in the process of being created. The colors are generally rather cool, with the exception of the warmer red tones in the foreground, which create contrast and emphasize the dynamics. The image appears abstract and leaves plenty of room for interpretation. The mood is complex and can be perceived as both calm and chaotic and turbulent.
Hannelore Kammerer works primarily with oil and acrylic paints, often in portrait painting, and brings a wealth of experience from various training programs. She uses realistic, but also abstract and mixed-media techniques, combining meditative precision with planned brushstrokes and free, flowing creativity when working with acrylics.
