About this artwork
In this work, created with acrylic and varnish and influenced by 17th-century paintings and contemporary advertising, I play with light/dark and bold color contrasts, vibrating both in the depths of darkness and in luminous explosions of color. Despite its small format, this canvas is powerful in its statement and claims its space.
Hartmut Häcker, a former self-taught artist, is a passionate painter who, after intensive studies in Trier, has taken the leap into full-time art. His works are based on acrylic and oil paints, with which he explores color values and their interactions; his techniques range from glazing to application with a palette knife or branch. Häcker's art focuses on color as an autonomous, creative element that speaks a subtle, intimate language. In his haunting color schemes, one senses the moods of the past, simultaneously a quiet strength and devoted calm.
