About this artwork
How many times have you replayed in your head events that haven't even happened yet? How many times have you made things up for others, searched for hidden meanings where none exist, and become entangled in your own disturbing fantasies?
This woman is the collective image of everyone who has ever been stuck in a mental vortex. She has her eyes closed, her face appears calm, but around her are swirling lines of anxiety, like thoughts coiled on an… imaginary spiral. Flowers crown her, but they wither, one by one, under the weight of imagined fears. Only one remains, still alive, like the last drop of reality breaking through the fog of anxiety.
But was it worth it? Was her anxiety worth the strength that went with the wilted flowers? My art is a reminder: sometimes it's better to let go than to keep winding yourself up. Reality is almost never as scary as our imaginations make it out to be.

Helen Spoon, a painter with a background in open studio practice, works primarily with oil and acrylic, believing in art’s accessibility and sincerity. She masterfully blends symbolism, surrealism, expressionism, and impressionism, using technique and medium to match each mood—acrylic for spontaneity, oil for emotional depth. Her artworks evoke profound emotions, offering viewers a space where vulnerability and inner resonance can be sincerely experienced.
