Winter watercolor painting of Fraueninsel (Chiemsee) in backlight. The use of light-filled blue and turquoise tones creates a vibrant, almost dreamy depiction of a snowy landscape. This artwork brings a calming energy to any home that is both refreshing and inspiring.
“Watercolor painting is like writing songs in music. The oil painting is the full orchestra” (H. Eckstein 1929 - 2006)
Hellmut Eckstein, born in 1929 in Brandenburg an der Havel, discovered his passion for painting while still at school. After the Second World War and various stints, including being a prisoner of war in England, he began an apprenticeship in graphic design. In addition to his job as a graphic artist, Eckstein continued his artistic work, inspired by nature and his travels, especially to Italy. He took part in exhibitions and joined artists' circles. In 1988 he stopped working and was able to devote himself entirely to painting. Eckstein's works, such as acrylic and oil paintings, watercolors and his figurative graphite drawings, were well received both publicly and privately and are now part of the Bavarian State Painting Collections. In 2006 Eckstein died suddenly in a Munich hospital.
