About this artwork
The flowers for my daughter's birth in the hospital sink. One of those afternoons you won't forget, especially not with a drawing as a reminder. Colored pencils and pencil on Arches laid paper.

Helmut Kruse is an artist with a solid background in illustration and a preference for paper as a medium. Using techniques such as brush, pencil and felt-tip pen, she personalizes lines, translates visible and invisible elements into her works and constantly brings new ideas. Her drawings tell stories using their own, pictorial "grammar" that sends viewers on a journey of discovery again and again. She strives to live up to the high standards she found in picture books and comics as a child, capturing the emotions of her subjects and presenting them in lines and shapes.
