About this artwork
This painting, for me, is space being pushed open, layer by layer. The yellow above is a light so bright it almost stings—like air bleached by heat. The pale band in the middle becomes a horizon, flattened under that pressure. Below, the darker browns and blacks carry the weight of the ground.
The whole composition rests on a single, extended horizontal line, holding light and earth apart. The colors descend slowly from brightness into darkness,… giving the piece a quiet, breathing rhythm.
I kept the brushwork restrained—no wandering gestures—just a few fine marks that tremble like distant grass, shadows, or traces of wind. The atmosphere isn’t about landscape so much as a moment stretched to its most silent point: light rising, earth sinking, and that solitary line holding the world together.

Heng Liang is a painter working with oil and acrylic, with works exhibited in China, the United States, and across Europe, and held in private collections internationally. His practice is rooted in abstract lyricism, where gestural brushwork shapes vivid and atmospheric compositions. Drawing from nature, memory, and quiet reflection, he builds images that balance structure and emotion, inviting viewers into a suspended world of color and rhythm where thought and feeling converge.
