About this artwork
From the Vessels Series
These oil paintings and collages depict abstracted vessel forms. The vessels are colorful and patterned with painted designs. They seem to appear out of the background that is painted or collaged as another layer in the painting. These pieces are inspired by a continued interest in using the vessel form as a shape in paintings. Vessel forms have always attracted me as subject matter due to their beauty in shape and metaphors… for containment of space. These pieces are paintings and collages on paper and canvas. I am working with overlays and simplified forms often first painted and then collaged with beautiful colored papers i have collected from my travels to Japan.
Hollie Heller, a multifaceted artist with roots in fiber art, delicately intertwines her knowledge of textile design, painting, and art education. Practicing intensely colorful and pattern-focused techniques, she constructs intricate layers and mixed-media, often taking inspiration from nature and everyday objects. Her works emanate the vibrant essence of the Costa Rican landscape, encapsulating the quintessence of tropical life.
