About this artwork
Produced in the year of 2018, in these paintings I explore the qualities of the human figure in imaginary portraits through a different emotional state and a diversified and intense use of colors and shapes, influenced by Henri Matisse essence, Pablo Picasso strangeness, and Yayoi Kusama psychedelic mess.

Hugo Castilho is a self-taught Portuguese painter who portrays a fantastical universe where he explores reflections of reality through ethical, pedagogical, and humoristic content. He begins his artistic process by contemplating a white canvas on the floor, imagining what it is he wants to create. With a spoon, Castilho starts molding plaster. After it has dried, he gives color to the piece by using enamel paint.
