This painting is part of the series "Childhood Nostalgia" that honors some of the magical characters and cartoons from the late 70s, the 80s and the early 90s. that inspired me to follow a creative path.
This painting depicts a white cat wearing a pink ribbon on the head, and a dress with a pattern from a Sanrio vintage wrapping paper (1976,1983) with a scene including the… character that inspired the artwork.
Main colors: White, gray, pink, light blue and light yellow. All pastel tones.
Style: Illustrative, new contemporary and the face of the cat was created in a figurative manner.

Ilaamen Pelshaw is a Guatemalan painter based in the United States whose work has been featured in solo and group shows nationally. Growing up with a grandfather who was an artist and muralist, Pelshaw became interested in art herself and developed a practice centered around positivity and warmth. Mostly working in acrylic on canvas, her work is always colorful and illustration based, whether through quirky animal portraits or paintings of Latin American culture and crafts.
