About this artwork
Between stillness and flow
This work is part of an ongoing exploration of the body as a living system, where form emerges through processes of flow, diffusion, and transformation. Layers of pigment unfold across the surface, creating organic shapes that evoke cells, tissues, and fluid movement within the body.
Vibrant red and orange elements suggest moments of intensity and circulation, contrasted by softer grey textures and deeper tones that anchor… the composition. Rather than depicting the body, the painting invites a sensing of it from within. It reflects the quiet activity that sustains life, the rhythms that pulse beneath awareness, and the continuous negotiation between structure and flow.
The work exists in the space between inner and outer landscapes, where biological processes and emotional resonance intersect, and where what remains unseen becomes tangible.
Ina Schuppe Koistinen is a painter and visual artist with a scientific background, working primarily in watercolor, mixed media, and, more recently, oil. Her intuitive, process-based practice features delicate layering, transparency, and organic flow, often shifting between abstraction and suggestion to evoke bodily and natural forms. Her work invites viewers into a sensory exploration of the hidden rhythms and cycles within the female body, emanating intimacy, reflection, and a profound sense of connection to the unseen systems that pulse beneath the surface of life.
