About this artwork
I painted this diptych as a single, continuous story about the profound moment of separation—the parting of two people, or two souls. It is a vital piece in my "Silhouettes" series, capturing the heavy emotional space that opens up when one shared path splits into two.
Using acrylics, I created a dense, textured darkness that frames both panels, symbolizing the painful reality of the outside world closing in. From this darkness, a warm, golden light… emerges in each canvas. To me, this light represents the beautiful, shared past and the memories they once held together.,they are now physically and emotionally separated by the boundaries of the frames. The female figure in the vibrant red dress on the left and the solitary male figure on the right are caught in the quiet, heartbreaking realization of drifting apart. I invite you to connect with the universal human experience of letting go, and the bittersweet beauty of the light we leave behind.
