About this artwork
My childhood was surrounded by a lot of water, fishing boats, nets and coastal exoticism. My father was a fisherman. Fish was eaten almost every day. Surrounded by this romance, adventures with boats, rustling reeds, hiding places in nets, in my dreams I would go on trips on large ships, traveling around the world. And the captain of the ship was always the most important person in my stories. When inspiration struck, I painted this hyperrealistic… still life dedicated to all captains. These were very respected people who accumulated a lot of knowledge, accompanied by wisdom, using maps, relying on the stars, guiding ships and sailors to their destination. Irena realistically transformed the attributes of their works, such as binoculars of that time, manuscripts, a globe, books with descriptions of undiscovered worlds and, of course, the captain's pipe, creating an authentic atmosphere
Irena Lutinskaite is a Lithuanian-born painter working primarily in oils, with extensive training from Telsiai Art College, Lithuania, and a vibrant international exhibition background. She masterfully blends impressionistic landscapes and hyperrealistic still lifes, using multi-layered color techniques inspired by the Old Masters to achieve luminous transparency and intricate detail.
