About this artwork
In painting this work, I tried to capture the contrast between fear and the intrinsic beauty of the natural world. The use of acrylics and oils allows for a fusion of intense colors and nuanced textures, typical of expressionism and surrealism. The representation of a spider, an often feared entity, together with a bird, a symbol of freedom, aims to evoke reflections on the coexistence of fear and admiration in our perception of nature. hallucinations are very vivid experiences that occur while falling asleep, in conjunction with hypnagogic paralysis due to an early onset of the REM phase.
During these paralyses it happens that the subject perceives as real bizarre and disturbing entities that otherwise belong to the dream: simple geometric shapes with different colors are often described, or they can appear in the form of animal silhouettes🕷️
