About this artwork
Carmen is the heroine of the novel and the opera, who is known to everyone for her wildness and passion. Carmen appears in the second chapter. The author sees her in the twilight of a summer evening. "It was a strange and wild beauty. A face that, at first glance, surprised, but which could not be forgotten."
The work is done on a wooden panel. First, a mosaic of painted paper was glued. Then the image was painted with acrylic.

Irina Tsypilova is a Vienna-based artist and member of the Union of Artists of Vienna and Austria. Since graduating with honors from Art College in 2002, she has developed a unique style combining painting, collage, mosaic, and graphics on paper, canvas, and wood. Her work explores texture and material, balancing spontaneity with precision.
Her recent series contrasts bright, freeform shapes with smooth black lines, blending abstraction with controlled design. Irina is known for surreal compositions—like syrup pouring from cheese or a pear on a glowing cube—that reflect her fascination with the absurd and simple forms’ philosophical depth.
Inspired by 20th-century surrealists and cubists, her art evokes strong emotions and deep reflection. Her works are held in private collections across Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.
