About this artwork
In this artwork, I used pastels to explore the delicate, almost mystical fusion of light and shadow that surrounds the human form. The subtle transparency of the fabric, which elegantly wraps around the figure, speaks to the vulnerability yet strength of the human body. This painting is intended to create an atmosphere of reflection and inner calm in any room in which it hangs.

Irmtraut Behrens, an artist from Bremen, uses acrylic paint and canvas, but started with pastel chalk on cardboard. Her palette ranges from erotic images of women, abstract works to animal images. Her style is variable, always characterized by a strong sensitivity. Irmtraut's art embodies the feeling of joy. It makes her happy when someone decides to live with her works.
In 1999 she moved to Husum on the beautiful North Sea coast with its wonderful light and cloud formations.
Exhibitions in Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Denmark were quite successful.
