About this artwork
On a blue night and moonlight, Strasbourg sleeps.
Majestic, mysterious and protective, the Cathedral keeps watch.
In the heart of the city, Notre Dame dominates silently.
The birds know it, they have been sheltered in the pink sandstone of Alsace for 1000 years.
“A pile of stones ceases to be a pile of stones as soon as a single man contemplates it with, within him, the image of a Cathedral.
" Antoine de Saint-Exupéry "
« "As long as I can explain why things are in a certain place in my paintings, I think it is not good. It must be free, it must become a mystery. -Per Kirkeby" »
Isabelle Schenckbecher-Quint is a French painter whose art has been featured nationally in both solo and group exhibitions. Her art imbues the elemental themes such as the cycle of nature, composition, decomposition and metamorphosis. Schenckbecher-Quint allows the expression of her feelings and moods to dictate the colour palette and projects a pictoral writing onto canvas. She uses acrylic paints because it is the only possible technique that adapts to her “dazzling”.
