About this artwork
The man in the painting is not intended as a traditional portrait. He represents a moment of inner tension—a state between exposure and protection. The neon-yellow down jacket seems almost like stored light, as if it has absorbed warmth and energy. The expressive brushstrokes are deliberate and uncompromising. They reflect movement rather than stillness and suggest an inner vibration—a moment between departure and silence. The figure appears where… decisions must be made, where one must decide whether to remain invisible or become visible, well aware that visibility also means vulnerability. Unique piece / 60 x 80 cm / Acrylic paint on paper / VIBRATION THROUGH EXPRESSIVE BRUSH STRIPS / Relinquishing control as an important part of the painting process / for example, by extending his brush with a long handle.
« My works are only the source of inspiration for interpretations, the stories are created in people's heads. »
Jörg Herz is a Munich-based artist who discovered his passion in painting and sculpture. He uses spruce wood as a creative material, which he then chainsaws to create whimsical and idiosyncratic sculptures. His works often humorously sketch everyday human life. With his powerful, often neon-colored sculptures and paintings, Herz speaks directly to the viewer and encourages their own interpretations.
