About this artwork
I paint the dugout canoe as a symbolic object for our human existence. Humanity is almost unimaginable without trees! I traveled the world for many years, and before each new journey, I always had a special feeling of excitement, anticipation, and a sense of "jumping off the cliff." It was always a challenge. This liberating feeling, not without risk, is the subject of the painting. The deep, dark greens, almost black, embody the hopeful excitement…
