About this artwork
I paint the dugout canoe as a symbolic object for our human existence. Humanity is almost unimaginable without trees! I traveled the world for many years, and before each new journey, I always had a special feeling of excitement, anticipation, and a sense of "jumping off the cliff." It was always a challenge. This liberating feeling, not without risk, is the subject of the painting. The deep, dark greens, almost black, embody the hopeful excitement… of a journey, while the vibrant, multicolored, radiant white represents confidence in what is to come.
The picture is framed with a simple white studio-style wooden frame.
Jürgen Büse Filzen is a painter with training as a retoucher, graphic designer, and fine artist. After many international experiences, he now lives in Northern Germany. He uses acrylics, oils, drawing, and watercolors, and his style is constantly evolving—feelings and moods are reflected in his lines and brushstrokes; no two canvases are alike. His landscapes explore the interplay between nature and human influence, conveying a profound sense of peace, stillness, and contemplation to the viewer.
