In this work, I wanted to capture the fleeting essence of the present moment, using oil to capture movement and light. Figurative style meets impressionism, evoking feelings of nostalgia and freedom. The characters interact with nature, the beach serving as a living canvas where reflections and shadows mingle. This painting infuses a calming energy, a picture of calm and contemplation.

James MacKeown is an award-winning figurative artist living in France whose paintings are featured annually in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in England, Ireland, and Switzerland. Through his art, he endeavors to convey the sublime in the intimacy of everyday and private life. The apparent improvisation in his works is in reality the result of an extreme and refined elaboration; the palette of colors meticulously constructed with soft gradients combined with a gentle touch. As such, MacKeown identifies as a "painter of intimacy". While he occasionally depicts surrealist subjects, they also follow his particular vision and philosophy of daily life.
