About this artwork
Barquito is part of a body of work I'm developing, in which I take objects—some inherited, others found, remnants, or discarded items—to create something new. Each object has a reason, a meaning, an emotion.
I take that object, I take it to another scenario, they seem like scenes in which poetry and brilliance transcend what is broken, what is dead and give life to a new image; reinterpreting and at the same time deepening its essence.
In this… case, a silver paper that had wrapped a bouquet of flowers I was given, placed in a swimming pool and, aided by the wind, takes on a different shape: a boat. Like that little paper boat I used to make as a child with a sheet of paper to play with in a puddle or the river in my city.
