About this artwork
Through the bold use of acrylic and oil, I created a visual landscape where figures overlap and interact in a symbol-laden space. This painting is not only an invitation to look, but to feel the tangle of feelings and memories that define our existence. Each element, from distorted faces to stylistically varied buildings, works to capture the ephemeral, the blur between reality and imagination.
Jean Louis Mendrisse is a French painter and sculptor who has exhibited both nationally and in the Netherlands. His art depicts diverse emotions and moods, celebrating life and humanity in search of the past and meaning. Mendrisse also expresses the ephemeral through themes that include seduction, arguments, shyness, doubt, family, and dance. He paints using oils and acrylics on canvas or linen and also employs screen printing and lithography techniques. His sculptures are made with bronze, resin, and plastic.
