In this piece, I explored the dynamic tension between spontaneity and control, using bold lines and unexpected textures to evoke raw emotion. The energetic interplay of acrylic, collage, pen, and ink invites viewers into a space, sparking curiosity and reflection. Side are painted black.

Jean is a mixed media artist whose creative process is intuitive and organic. Through subtracting and adding visual elements she attempts to create a sense of balance, by creating a visual space for quiet contemplation and discovery. It’s about re-imaging shapes to communicate ideas and feelings. The interplay of negative space and positive shapes becomes a dialogue, inviting the viewer to contemplate the relationship between the two.
Jean's work has been featured widely, including as cover art for a volume of Lord Tennyson's poetry - published in Italy - and an award-winning contemporary poetry volume - published in the United States. Her work has been accepted into a number of juried exhibitions. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jean teaches mixed media classes online.
