About this artwork
I used the dynamic interplay of large rectangular color fields, then scraped through to the underpainting to create fine lines threading through the composition to contribute both subtlety and to animate the structure of the color blocks, creating rhythms and pathways for the eye to follow. Comes in a wooden floater frame.

Jean is a mixed media artist whose creative process is intuitive and organic. Through subtracting and adding visual elements she attempts to create a sense of balance, by creating a visual space for quiet contemplation and discovery. It’s about re-imaging shapes to communicate ideas and feelings. The interplay of negative space and positive shapes becomes a dialogue, inviting the viewer to contemplate the relationship between the two.
Jean's work has been featured widely, including as cover art for a volume of Lord Tennyson's poetry - published in Italy - and an award-winning contemporary poetry volume - published in the United States. Her work has been accepted into a number of juried exhibitions. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jean teaches mixed media classes online.
