About this artwork
A small sculpture once abandoned at the back of the workshop, rediscovered and made visible after dusting and painting. A small modular sculpture which can just as easily hang from the ceiling and fly in the air, as walk on a piece of furniture or a base , head up, head down, your choice. Its many legs make it a running animal, which sometimes change into wings... funny bird. The length is 87 cm and a width of 18. The height is variable depending…
on the modulation of the “wing legs”. From 5 to 50 cm depending on their positions. The sculpture, which weighs less than a kilogram, can hang on the end of a thread from a very small peak, and swing delicately in the air, if you want of course...

« "With the modularity of my sculptures, the spectator/collector is no longer just "looking". They become actors. I wrote the score, they become my interpreters." »
Jean Paul Boyer’s sculptures have been exhibited throughout his native France, Europe and China. Boyer continuously questions how to work with the air, or the “void”, that surrounds the material of the sculpture. He denies having a style, and allows himself the freedom to delve into all interpretations and techniques. His process starts by fabricating a model with any material he happens to have on hand, then the works evolve using wood, metal, marble, cardboard, etc.
