About this artwork
In this work, I sought to capture the vibrant essence of spring in New York City. The flowering branches set against the colorful facades of buildings evoke an urban renewal, a stark contrast between nature and human structure. Using acrylic for its vibrant colors and determination, I want this painting to bring a breath of life and hope to any space, recalling the cycles of renewal and beauty in our daily lives. This work addresses the theme of… birth. As nature is reborn and reveals itself anew, a pregnant woman, who can be seen standing outside her front door, is also preparing to give birth shortly.
I am Jean-Paul Roland, a contemporary Parisian painter. My work explores the contrasts between built and natural environments, capturing scenes from Normandy, where my studio is located, to landscapes discovered during my travels.
My style is distinguished by a bold use of color and meticulous attention to detail. I search for the color in each scene that will make a difference in terms of light and contrast. My paintings of industrial buildings and cityscapes demonstrate my fascination with architectural structures and the play of light.
My abstract works, such as those depicting stylized tree trunks or a woman searching for her children on the beach, evoke a modern, graphic approach, at the crossroads of pop art and hyperrealism. Each painting invites us to explore the subtle and often overlooked beauties of our everyday environment.
