In this double portrait, I wanted to capture the majestic and spiritual essence of the animal kingdom through my favorite medium, graphite. On the left, the lioness expresses a watchful, almost mysterious quiet, on the right, the lion transmits strength and royalty. These works represent the uncontested potential of nature under the veil of the night, a sincere celebration of the wild and the untamed. The intense chiaroscuro contrasts not only highlight… the intrinsic beauty of felines, but also reflect their resilience, power and the sacredness of their existence.
The work was designed to be framed together, in fact my signature is only present on the right of the painting at the bottom, therefore only on the lion. The technique used is chiaroscuro with graphite on 50% rough white cotton cardboard. I do not use other means, such as smudging or charcoal for the background, the sparkles of the eyes and the whiskers are the white of the paper. The drawings are 33x40cm each - 94x61cm (frame)
Jean Pierre Jurahua is a multidisciplinary artist, with a life experience marked by migration to Italy and a talent born almost by play. His works range from pure graphite on rough cardboard, to watercolor pastels, to acrylic on canvas, with a predilection for figurative realism and hyperrealism, recreating natural beauty without technical aids. His works convey an intense reflection on the immortal beauty of nature, inviting the viewer to an emotional confrontation with the purity and perfection of the real world.
