To create the images on the theme of Advertising Pop Art, I draw on motifs from my work as a photorealist illustrator and place them in a new context. I combine the works created over the course of my 40-year career in thematically mixed collages, creating surreal visual worlds with a completely new message. The… expressive reworking of my advertising work stems from the influences of Neo Pop of the 80s and 90s, which elevates seemingly banal motifs to art by changing their size, material, and context. I call my style Advertising Pop Art. I also aim to convey to the viewer that the starting point—the advertising illustration itself—is already art.

Jean-Pierre Kunkel is a German artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally at art fairs. His photorealistic compositions are based on his own photographs, which he composes digitally then renders onto canvas with oils. Through this process, Kunkel optimizes reality, playing with the intensities of color, light reflections, and surface structures.
