From the mezzanine of the Whitney Museum in New York, just as I was leaving an exhibition that had left me awestruck, I glanced down and saw a constellation of coloured chairs scattered across the tiled floor.
For an instant, the people resting there dissolved into shapes and hues — small living pigments in a vast minimalist canvas. My mind no longer saw visitors, but little pots of colour, each vibrating with its own temperature, rhythm, and emotion.…
Later, in post-production, I let these impressions overflow. The colours spill gently beyond their contours — like feelings we try to contain but cannot.
This image is about that overflow — of colour, of presence, of life — in a world that often seeks order and restraint.
This artwork is also available in 41X62 cm size; price: $800
Jean Vachon, a Quebec photographer trained in biology and visual arts, with 25 years of experience in commercial photography, now explores a personal practice rooted in a silent dialogue with nature. He favors luminous, atmospheric techniques and aims to reveal the beauty in everyday life through calm and meditative compositions. His work invites us to slow down, to feel and inhabit the moment, diffusing a soothing emotion, an essential gentleness, and a profound connection to the silent beauty of the natural world.
