About this artwork
The 20 faces I painted in the "Urban Climate" series are not portraits in the classical sense. They come from nocturnal visions, fragments of bad dreams, born from what I saw, felt, or absorbed in the streets and on public transport. In these visions, features are exaggerated, distorted, and tense, as if the fear and tension of our modern cities had become embodied in the very flesh of the faces.
These violent or distorted figures don't seek to… shock, but rather to convey the emotional intensity that reality conceals. In the street, on the subway, I perceived on some faces a silent fear, an inner weariness. Dreams, however, amplify these features, transforming them into allegories.
Through this painting, I try to give form to this fragile humanity that the city engulfs—a humanity that defends itself, that is frightened, that resists. The distortion then becomes a language, that of a felt truth, more emotional than realistic.

Benzi – Painter without a label but not without a story
At 75, I could tell you that I am a young artist with a bright future... except that I am above all an old painter with experience, well-worn brushes, and hundreds of paintings in stock that have never yet seen the light of a gallery.
I've never exhibited. I've never contacted a gallery. Not for lack of desire, but because life sometimes follows paths that put creation before dissemination. I've sold a few works, here and there, to acquaintances or strangers guided by others, touched by my work. Nothing organized. Nothing structured. Just encounters and glances.
Today, at my age, I feel that time is slowly ticking... I would like, finally, to present my work to a wider public, to professionals, to curious gallery owners. And who knows... perhaps find a gallery that will recognize in me an artist who has remained discreet for too long.
