About this artwork
This painting is a direct reinterpretation of Shepard Fairey's iconic "HOPE" poster, created for Barack Obama in 2008. Here, the artist replaces the political figure with a character as mythical as he is elusive: Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.
The word "HOPE" becomes "TRUST"—a weighty shift in meaning. Where Obama's poster sold hope through a political campaign, this work evokes a far more radical promise: that of a decentralized, transparent,… and tamper-proof monetary system.
Satoshi Nakamoto's choice was no accident. No one knows who he really is, but his invention—Bitcoin—is based on a single fundamental value: trust without intermediaries, enshrined in the protocol itself. It's not about believing in a person or an institution, but about trusting a code, a network, an idea.

« “Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age. Privacy is not secrecy. A private matter is something one doesn’t want the whole world to know, while a secret matter is something one doesn’t want anybody to know. Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world." _Eric Hughes »
Jeg is a key figure in the Bitcoin art movement, embodying the cypherpunk ethos with unwavering conviction. For him, pseudonymity isn't just a choice: it's a statement of freedom and autonomy. In a world where constant exposure has become the norm, Jeg believes pseudonymity is essential to protecting privacy and independence in the digital age. That's why he wears a mask: a symbol of his commitment to anonymity in an increasingly transparent world.
True to these principles, Jeg devotes his art to championing libertarian ideas, Bitcoin, digital freedom, and data protection, encouraging in-depth reflection on the digital world's impact on society. He also paints as a witness to geek culture, memes, and new ideas emerging from the Bitcoin community. Each of his works is full of hidden references that only insiders can fully recognize, while the more curious are invited to decipher the clues woven throughout his work.
