About this artwork
This oil on canvas measuring 97/130 cm. was inspired by a visit to the Alex Katz exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. It represents a scene of 8 spectators at the tennis championship in Wimbledon, England. The colors of Wimbledon, violet and emerald green, can be seen on the hat bands. You will see that the composition and resolution is motivated by Katz. The simplification of facial features and the use of flat colors also influenced…
by Katz will appear. It is a very happy painting, with a lot of color, movement and atmosphere. With each new work rediscover the joy of beauty and creation. Curiosity about life has led him, in art, to experiment with many methods of plastic expression. But whether you're working in oil, sculpture or printmaking, it's all a way of sharing the zest for life, of capturing the moment.
