About this artwork
Inspired by Caravaggio's The Descent from the Cross, this work reinterprets Baroque drama through a contemporary language where the fallen body dialogues with geometric structures. The Prussian blue background frames schematic and gestural figures, fragmented by a development of the Weaire–Phelan polyhedron, a form that represents spatial efficiency with minimal surface area.
The Alpha and Omega symbols anchor the work in a reflection on beginning… and end, while the tension between the organic and the mathematical suggests a crossover between the spiritual, the physical, and the rational.

Jesus Fernández Escobar is an award-winning artist based in Spain whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and in Italy. He describes his works as being based on the use of rhetoric as a form of artistic expression. Through themes that are punctuated with irony and morbidity, Escobar explores abstract concepts and means of expression. He most often creates using acrylics, spray paint, marker, and pencil on canvas or wood.
